Well I finally got a chance to pick up my Luego Seven (its a partial kit car). There are some bits hanging on but not properly installed like the from suspension and wiring loom since I bought the demo pile-o-parts. Now I've got all winter to put it together! (Yes - its British - imported from the UK).

Color me green. Better yet, let me know when it's done, and I'll put some miles on it to ensure that it's safe for you to drive.

Oh, sweet....are those EVO coilovers? & what drivetrain you gonna use?

So... Will it be ready for the sports car show this upcoming weekend? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

So I assume this is all part of the construction of your Locost homebuilt...

GAZ coilers - similar I think but maybe more "price sensitive". I *still* have not made up my mind on a drivetrain yet. I can get a 1.6L Miata engine/tranny pretty cheap from a ex-Japan import - wiring it worries me a bit though. I also know where to get a 1.3L Alfa for reasonably cheap too. I do have a Mitsubishi 4G32 engine that I don't think I'll use as the 75hp it puts out is a bit sad. The biggest issue is engine height and transmission width.

And no it won't be ready for next weekend - hopefully next summer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif This is the Locost project except with a big shortcut since I bought the frame.

The 1.6L miata with a Greddy turbo kit would be pretty peppy. There are shops that specialize in import engines, and a Nissan SR20DET would be an easy 200hp, or a honda s2000 engine/transmission setup would be 240 hp with a 6 speed.

The transmision on the SR20DET is rather wide - could likely make it fit but would have to re-work the transmission tunnel. The Honda S2000 engine is massive and won't fit. I'd be happy with 100-150hp in such a light car.

What about a Ford ZETEC?

How bout a 2L alfa out of a 80's spider? basically the same size as the 1.3L Alfa, but cheap to get, with easy power, and easy to find parts. The Zetech ford or GM ecotech might be interesting ideas too.

Zetec is a minor pain to convert to rwd. I want to keep it as simple as possible. I think Miata will end up winning in the end. Huge parts avaliablity, reasonable power (only real minus is its not exactly super light).
