Back From Oklahoma & High Temps!

I just got back from the farm in Oklahoma. Cutting hay along with some weeds, the temp reached 107 degrees in the fields one day, the day before was 104! Fortunately, One tractor I have has an air conditioned cab, what a blessing! The tractors engine temps were in the yellow, very close to the red mark on the gages. I really feel sorry for those people who have to survive without air in their homes out there. My neighbor who has about 500 Charolais cows, has to use metered water for them due to his ponds drying up until the rains return. A very costly condition. A lot of poverty in that region, more than most people know. Anyway, everybody's ponds are drying up with the exception of ours! Our pond is fed by an underground river and is full all the time. We have hundreds of animal tracks around it, which they mostly come at night to drink. Lots of Deer, Fox, Rabbits and of course, Armadillos. PJ

Aren't you happy this has been a fairly mild summer, with at least some rain. At least in my neck of the woods.

Our place is up in Maye's county, just over the Cherokee county line, between Locust Grove and Tahlequah. 65 miles from Tulsa. Nice rolling hills and green everywhere! Pretty, and sparsely populated. PJ

So you are pretty close to Peggs? My moms folks used to have a farm out that was about 5 miles south of Inola.

Walter, No one has ever heard of Peggs! :jester: Our place is a little over a mile out of town. Not big, just 20 acres. Has a area for a 1300 foot grass air strip. PJ

Pretty part of the state, but too humid for me. I prefer the southwestern part of the state, being near the Wichita Mts. and the dryer climate.
