Hi there, I'm a new member here. I joined so I could post my question about car care. I put it in the Restoration and Car Care forum here:

https://www.britishcarforum.com/bcforum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/272933/page/1#Post272933

but wanted to post to this MG forum to introduce myself, and hoping that MG owners might go take a look at that thread to answer my car care question, if you had tips.

I have a 65 MG B that has been in the family since it was new, and the keys were handed to me in 1994. It can run, go, and stop, and has often been in a state where only 1 or 2 of those things was possible. I've been saving for years to get it professionally painted and get the body of it repaired, and it's finally getting done now. The body was always in pretty good shape but there was a dent on one spot, and the driver's side door rusted out at the bottom pretty bad. I should be getting it back in about a month and can't wait, it's going to be a good summer.... as long as it continues running, going, and stopping <grin>. After I save for a couple more years I'll get the interior done next. I drive it a LOT, too, not just once in a while on a sunny day. Life is too short to not enjoy something so wonderful as often as possible. (Though after this paint job I'll probably avoid driving it in rainstorms.)

I've been reading this forum for months so thanks for all your stories and posts. I'll continue enjoying it here. Happy driving.

Your story sounds familiar. My '65 B has also been in the family since new. Well, since a year old actually. My grandfather bought it, then sold it to my father who gave it to me in the late 80s. It was falling apart but eventually I got it painted, then did the interior, etc. It has never been restored but it has been maintained as a driver and has well over 300K miles.

Keep enjoying that car, and don't worry about the rain storms. You will have to repaint it eventually anyway! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
