BABE Ralley / something different

looks like a blast.
from the rules:
"THE CAR ITSELF

The vehicle must cost less than $250. If you did not purchase the car you must provide a signed witness statement from someone stating that they feel $250 is on the expensive side as a valuation for your car."

i would guess that there will be many mgb's then.

That's pretty funny, and the money's going to a good cause.

I wonder how long the jubilation lasts upon crossing the finish line, before realizing that your $250 rolling death trap has to get you back to New York? (Or wherever your final destination may be....)

I'm thinking that it maybe best to "donate" the car to an organization in Nawlins and arrange alternate homeward transportation. Got my eye on a "make b/o" 1971 AMC Hornet that's parked not so far here. Looks like heck but in this case, I think it could be a contender.

I assume you are Spridgets Unlimited, so what are you driving? I'm looking in the want ads as we speak. This looks like a blast. I'm voting for a 2wd Chevy C10 with a 350, my girlfriend wants to take a jeep and to honor my father I need to find a Dodge Dart with a slant 6, (or a Plymouth Valarie wagon for the tools).

Tempting.
Some of my students have already bugged me about this one (three of them took 5th place in the GrassRoots $2003 Challenge).
There's no shortage of suitable cars (I live in NJ.....many cars here are worth less than $250 after 3 or 4 years on our roads). We'll see......

Coming through Nashville on May 27 - will have to try to cheer 'em on.

The rally doesn't really say it goes to any cause. Entrants are welcome to donate but I don't see where the actual organizers do anything for charity.

"The challenges do not, however, involve doing anything dangerous... Safety is important at all times."

Isn't a $250 (or less) car considered dangerous?

Bruce

The Spridgets Unlimited (Team SU) is the Spridget team.net mailing list car.
