ncbugeye was sitting there in my garage, resting quietly, when she was viciously attacked, twice, without warning, by my 17-year old son, who was needing to repair his mountain bike.

As a result, the first time, she suffered a displaced front clear glass dome at the right side. It was not broken, even though it fell on the concrete floor.

Not satisfied with his handiwork, the very same 17-year old vandal went and did exactly the same thing no more than 24 hours later. This time the glass broke.

This teenager is now available completely free of charge to anyone who will come and pick him up. I would cheerfully swap him for a clear glass dome if anyone has one going spare.

A word of warning, he is 6'2", 185, and eats more than two normal people.

I used to deal with 150 of those (teenagers) a day. I'm dreading the day that my ankle biters turn into teenagers.
 
A little perspective....
When I was serving in VietNam, my mother was storing my 54 XK120 M in her garage. She moved, so the car had to be moved also. She enlisted the help of my younger brother, who was still in high school at that time. He resented "slaving" for his absentee brother.

So he and a buddy of his got weeded up and took a 5 lb and 10 lb sledge to my car. When I rotated home, Mom made sure that David was visiting his paternal cousins(we had different sires) in another state, just so I couldn't kill him. A car that was in [censored] good drivable shape was reduced to a shriveled wreck. Sold the car, basically just parts in toto for 500.. So forgive your kid for being a kid.

I cant afford em anymore.
Both have $11.00 an hour jobs and cant make ends meet, there killin me! Not to mention what they do to my toolbox.
IF I could find a socket I might actualy work on something!
I know God is punishing me for the days I was supposed to be checking the mountain pasture for our cows, but instead I was contently napping in the shade under the cottonwood trees {the horse didnt mind, he didnt much like me riding him up through that shale and brush anyway.}

Ooh, new project I see. I didn't find Team Sprite until a few days before it was auctioned: I shall be following the progress of this one!
Chris, there are some things that are simply unforgiveable. It is time to sell the kid, maybe you can find someone who's had enough of their Sprite and do a trade... wouldn't that garage look good with a matching pair?
 
It doesn't end with teenage. My son is now 27 and I have two vehicles in my drive that are his. One is a 1955 chevrolet truck and the other is a 1972 Dodge. Nether run, thats the reason there are five engines and two transmissions in my basement. They both ran before he FIXED them. Of course there is not enough room in his garage. So the wife calls them yard ornaments.

I dunno. I suppose that if the kids are actually doing something besides hammering Jags, then they are at least active. I cannot see reflections of my son in any of the above posts. He just plays computer games. No school, no work, no drivers license, no bicycle and he's 23!!! He also lives in Virginia. I suppose I would be glad if he "fixed" a 55 Chevy, or a Toyota for that matter, or played a guitar, or anything else.
 
I guess that means I have a good one. He'll work with me on mine. Doesn't like his school work though.
He's waiting for the 65 to be done so he can drive it.
That's when the trouble will start. We'll be fighting over who's driving her.

I'd like to paint him in the worst light possible after what he did do ncbugeye, but I have to confess he is an Eagle Scout, a lifeguard, has about 5 very cute girlfriends, and is taking his fair share of AP classes at school.

This one is complicated. He is actually the 4th of 5 (all boys), and heck, he is actually OK. After all, he is half-British, in fact "halfbrit" is his IM id. (His mother is a native of this fair state).

I think he did it because he doesn't like the fact that my current insurance on the car won't let anyone under 25 drive it.
 
I remember when I was 14 - 15.
I learned to drive at 10 - 11 on the farm down in Tillamook County.

My dad got me a 57 Ford. It was nice when he bought it.

I turned it into "The Bomb".

He must have cringed a lot, didn't say much. Let me use / abuse his tools. Gave helpful comments like:
"Hmmm... looks kinda like maybe you took a bit too much apart there son" after I had pulled the entire drive train up to the flywheel from under the car for something that would have been a whole lot easier with a bit of foreknowledge.

Well I liked learning by doing. That's something that has stuck. I still pull too much apart at times, and that's easy to do on these LBC's. But it's the learning part that's important. That, or the beer. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
