Does any body know the torque for the rear axle u bolts on a 1970 midget

I think "3 wrist-cracks" is about correct but I bet someone will come up with an objective number soon!

You can't hardly get it tight enough but using an 18" breaker bar might be a bit too much. Crank that baby dowm.

Everybody I've talked to says to make it TIGHT!.. I was concerned about breaking or stripping and was told to use a standard size 3/8" drive ratchet and get 'em as tight as I could make them by hand.

I checked my manual for you and it does not list a torque specification for that bolt. However it did say to do the final tightening of these bolts with the wieght of the car on the rear wheels.

...and re-tighten after driving for awhile.
