Spitfire Avatar Change - Spit or Seven?

I sold my TR6, regretfully, so the avatar needs to go. I have owned two TR6's and enjoyed them both. On the bright side, I still have the 1964 Spitfire and the TR7, so an avatar change is in order. I am not sure which one to put up. I am thinking the Spitfire since she is an older lady and deserves respect.

I vote fer th' Spit.

While the TR7's are dear to my heart, as a TR7 was the car that introduced me to LBCs in high school, I still gotta vote Spit

Okay, well, she isn't pretty, but I am going to put up the Spit. Well, the TR7 isn't pretty either, lol. The TR6 was the pretty one.

This photo was taken by the previous owner. Here you see it in a Miata blue in awful need of paint. The original color was red, and I hope to take it back to that. Since I bought it, it's been gone over by mechanic to get it ready for PA state inspection plus given some new tires. It looks like heck, but it is complete and runs very well. I am looking forward to having it licensed.

Awwww, I apparently got in after the polls closed. Of course, I would have voted for the 7. C'mon, DanNagy, throw us Wedgie fans a fish and post a few pix. :yesnod: Pretty please? --Monica

Hey Dan,

Your name sure does sound awfully familiar. Where in PA do you live? I lived in "Effort" (Brodheadsville area). I feel we must have met somewhere in passing.

I`m late on the vote but I would have gone the "Spit" as you have.

Regards, Russ

I sold the TR7, so the avatar question is done with. The engine was looking a bit daunting to me, and the engine swap idea was not something I could do at all. I read a lot of stuff about that and just got confused. That car was incredibly solid and I hope the new owner gets it on the road. So the TR6, TR7 are gone, and I sold my 1990 Miata at Christmas... but they all paved the way for a new BMW 135i convertible. We had a meeting at the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research and the director there is the BMW Chair. He got us all a slot to go driving at the BMW performance center. I drove a 760, X5M, M5, M3, and the 135i on their track. I liked how nimble the 135 felt on the track, very much like a sports car. I also like a little understeer, so the car suited me well. I am still in Switzerland, so I haven't seen the car yet. I'll need to wait until April. Here is the YouTube of it coming off the flatbed at my house: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfcAYI65GOA

So as somebody mentioned in another posting about having one car you can drive while the classic is down for repairs, my sports car for pleasure driving is the Spitfire. My friend who has known me since we were kids driving the back roads of PA predicted that once the Spit was done, I would spend little time in the BMW. Perhaps. The Spit is having its paint stripped off as I write, and the shop is going to return it to its original red. I'll do the interior, and I want to put a new exhaust on it. That's going to be my first mechanical thing I have done to a car since I was a kid, but it is a start. I have a new top for it, too, but wonder if I want to wrestle with it. I'll try to post some photos in progress as I get them.

By the way, I was not able to figure out the problem with starting the car, so sent it off to my mechanic. He charged the battery. Sigh.
