MGB autumn leaf carpet?

:peaceful: Hi fellow car nuts.
I bought new rims for my white 1974 1/2 MGB (the silverstone II replicas). They look so good that my interior looks a little shabby.

My vinyl panels and seats are all Autumn leaf, but my carpet and rear cockpit rail cover are black.

Did this car come from the factory with black carpet, or has a previous owner changed out the autumn leaf carpet. The reason I ask, is because the Map pocket is covered with Autumn leaf carpet.

Thanks for any help or advice anyone can render.

Did a quick lookup in my books, and it does appear that all cars came with carpets that matched the color of the interior, so if the Autumn Leaf interior is correct, you should have Autumn Leaf carpeting as well.
 
Our 72 originally had Autumn Leaf interior and the carpets were the same. Can you still buy Autumn Leaf? I thought it was discontinued. PJ
 
I believe the first year for Autumn leaf was '72 and the carpet was the same color

You do, Boss. When I was originally looking for a LBC I shied away from the MGB (too common, I thought). Now that I've had one for a couple years, I'm sold. I just need to send mine to Paul so he can clean it up to look as nice as his!

Thanks for the compliments, makes it all worth while! Just a note, the seats are Suffolk leather seats from the UK. They are twice as comfortable as the originals, but set about 1 inch higher due to added thickness. A possible problem for 6+ footers. PJ

I drove a friend's '73 B recently, with redone seats. I hadn't realized how collapsed my seats are -- and how necessary it is that they are collapsed. I got in his car and was looking over the windshield instead of through it.
 
Drew, if you ever have to replace your collapsed seats, I have a few pre-collapsed seats in the barn! :devilgrin: PJ

Luckily my seats are otherwise in good shape (and remarkably comfy) so I'm good for a while, but thanks all the same. :D
