I'd mentioned this guy in another post a while back, the camera in this article is one I used to sell back in the PA Ma & Pa camera store, as a teen. Eastern Block, tinny and cheap!

The Trabant of SLRs! Did you sell many to professionals who knew better?
HA! Most of 'em sat in the stockroom. Only sold a couple. ISTR the Hanimex sales rep *gave* the owner of the store a few to see if they'd sell. This was a west Pennsylvania steel town... not much use for Russian/Eastern bloc goods, regardless the price. The Japanese cameras were just getting a foothold. Nikon, Canon and Pentax were still "new kids" on the block. SLR's were only about five years in production and I could buy Mirandas at cost. Nikons were $till out of reach. The only Pro's in town were news or studio photogs, they were still using medium format for the most part.

Just looked up Pete Pavlovic. Another mentor of mine, one of the pro's at the local newspaper. We lived in the same part of the county, I grew up just outside the town limits of Koppel, PA.

Pete was an early role model for me. First time I ever heard the phrase: "Better to seek forgiveness than to ask permission" it came from him. Got me in hot water a few times as well. And I've got some "Pete stories" too. πŸ˜‰
