Automotive "Olympics"

Automotive "Olympics"

I'm thinking about organizing a contest which would be loosely based on the Olympics and I need some ideas. Here's what I have so far:

Discus throw...use an old brake rotor instead of a real discus?
Shot Put... Maybe use an old Lucas alternator?
Javelin...Maybe a driveshaft, might be too heavy, though?

I really don't want to have any events involving running or jumping. Any other ideas out there?

Thanks,
Rich Rlck

Re: Automotive "Olympics"

This for a car club meet? sounds like it could be funny.
How about an old truck jack handle for the "javelin"? One of those really long ones that Ford used to stow across the top of the radiator support.
Synchronized turn signals....

Another route would be to go with "automotive events" rather than adapting Olympic events to auto parts. I'm suggesting this partly because I am imagining a picnic with jack handles, half shafts and brake rotors flying through the air - let's just say I don't see that ending well, especially if beer is involved.

One of the fun events at the Midget 50th was "drag racing" - dragging a car over 100 yards or so.

I could imagine a "hurdle" where you have to run and fix something and run and fix something else, or run and assemble something.

some kind of a ring toss with a fan belt

My last car club used to also offer prizes for the oddest item in the trunk etc. etc
