Autolite/ Motorcraft 2bbl carb needed

Forums are wonderful... they're an endless source of info about whatever you need (or don't) Anyway...
My CJ is running like dukie. the general consensus on the CJ forum is I have the Carter carb woes. And I fully believe them. A cheap alternative is the ever durable Autolite / Motorcraft 2100 2bbl that was used throught the 60s-70s- and a bit into the 80s on Fords and AMCs
So I'm puttin a call out on a decent one from the 70s vintage (gotta be pre emissions) hopefully one that is stamped "108" under the accelerator pump linkage on the side of the carb.
They would have been found on the ford 300-302-330-351-390s
or AMC 304 (among several others).
If anybody has one that they wanna part with on the cheap, lemme know.
I am dong a scouting run to the u-pull-it this weekend, and I may find one, but I wanna get some options.
Thanks guys (and gals)
Banjo

AHHHH scratch the whole thing!!!
By what can only be devine intervention I went out to the garage on a hunch to look for the 2 bbl I took off my 67 Galaxie 390 over 10 years ago, and I found it in short order, AND it happens to be an Autolite 1200!!!!
thanks anyways... looks like I have my project underway.

Arrrr, Thank ye. It be the flag of Captain Edward Teach, better known to you scurvey dogs as Blackbeard.
Har har har...

I have one of those, too. Came off of the "mystery" 302 in my Mustang. Glad you found one, though.

Camshaft,
On the side where the accelerator pump rod is, is it possibly stamped 108 or 1.08 or even 120??? if so I may be intrested in the metering jets if you'd want to sell em (or the whole carb if you don't want to render it worthless by removing the jets)
Mine is off a Ford 390, so it's gonna be pretty rich for the ol 258. supposedly the 302 that should be stamped 108 has the right jets. if its stamped 120 then it's got bigger jets.. those would work too
Mine is stamped 123, so its the big'un.

I'll have to take a look tomorrow or Monday, but I'll let you know. My garage is about 30 feet from my house so as the weather gets colder it gets tougher to justify the jaunt out there. We've been having a "Tropical Heat Wave" these past few days (25 degrees), so I'll probably go out for the carb and pay my girls a visit. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

hehehe, I fully understand. sittin here looking at a thermometer that says 16. and thinking "that's pretty warm"

Mine is stamped "1.21," just let me verify that it's a 2100. I'll get a couple of pics up while I'm at it.

Nice doorstop there, Cam.

Upon doing some more research I've discovered that I really need a carb stamped 1.08. It referrs to the venturi size, not the jets. the jets need to be #45s. So I'm still looking for a 1.08 carb (that's the number in Camshafts second pic under that rod). scrapyard run this week if it warms up a bit.
Mine is a 123 that's a 356 CFM. that's WAYYY too much. it'll never run well on that.
The 1.08 is 287 CFM According to Jeepaholics, that's the magic setup.
SO call is back on!!! I need a 2100 that's stamped 1.08!
I'd still like to know what jets that junker has in it though Camshaft...
P.S. that new one is shure purty!!!!!

I could possibly crack it open this week and find out for you, if you wish. The carb was remanufactured in 1995 and only used until 1998 or so, so hopefully the internals will be in good shape.

The new carb is an Edelbrock (Weber) 600 CFM with Endurashine finish; the intake is a Performer with Endurashine as well. They've been sitting under my bed for almost 2 years now. They are destined for the Mustang but I can't find Mustang II parts anywhere. I've had the Mustang since I was 14. I may build the engine & transmission next year, but it will be some time before it ends up in the car. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Update. My forraging run to the u-pull-it enlightened me to tha fact that these are some sought after little buggers. I found probably 8 cars that shoulda had one only to find intakes with 2 holes and some studs sticking up.
Parts stores were no good. It was gonna be at least $150 plus $30 core (which I don't have) and was gonna take forever and a month to get from anywhere with shipping of course.
So I put in a call to an obscure junkyard, and the fella said he had one, and it was stamped 1.08. for $50
OK! I went down there today. It was the right one, but the throttle shaft was stuck, so I got it for $35, spent 15 minutes of coaxing, lubing, gentle heat, and viola! works like new.
Adapter and rebuild kit will be in tomorrow, and the whole shebang should be in place by the weekend!
Cool!
Camshaft, You oughta put that bugger on Ebay. You might be suprised. Especially if you clean it up and rebuild it. It's an extremely simple carb.

Well, Carb's on, Jeep's runnin. Not as nice as I relly hoped, but it's a definate improvement... I'm suspicious of the low oil pressure reading, some random "tacking" noise form the #1 and #6 cylinder hydraulic valve lifters. I changed out the plugs, 1 and 6 were relaitvly clean, while 2-5 were sooty.
Also did and oil change to make sure I diden't have any gas-thinned oil still in there (also part of my low oil pressure suspicion)
Also put in an Accel performance coil to give a little more fire.
The saga continues... Tomorrow is the real test.

Well at least parts are easily attainable. But it'll cut into your Jag rebuilding schedule.

Odd question, but where do you order your Jeep parts Banjo? If it's somewhere besides Quadratec I'd like to take a look. Nothing against Quadratec, but I like having multiple parts sources.

I ordered my new top from Quadratec. I searched the web and they were on par with everyone else, and were an established and reputable source (someone to scream at if it wasen't right)
Other than that, I've gotten or ordered almost everything through local parts stores. Mostly Advance Auto. They've shocked me over and over by having things in stock and cheap.
Speedo cable, in stock $17
Calipers, in stock $15 each
Carb rebuild kit, in stock $14
Fuel pump, in stock $18
Carb adapter plate (for swap) overnight $14
just awsome.
They've been good to me.
Of course I've spent a LOT over there in the last year.
It's the polar opposite to working on the Jag.
