auto transporters

My goal of driving the Beast from Virginia to Idaho was thwarted by an immediate breakdown, and snow closing Interstate 70 through parts of Colorado. My daughter was somewhat frustrated but i reminded her that adverntures are supposed to be fun at my age, so she said we could ship to car to Idaho. Has anyone out there had any recent POSITIVE experiences with a particular auto shipper? Those people that I know who have shipped cars would not recommend their auto shippers. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

OMG!! I am sorry to hear about the break down Healeyguy. However. I have no reservations in recommending Intercity Lines as a car trans porter. I have used them exclusively moving cars across the US. They are first class. Keoke-

I, too, have heard great things about Intercity Lines. I tried to use them last year when my fuel pump gave out in Rhode Island to get me down to the restoration shop I used in N.C. (long story), but they couldn't meet my shipping dates. So while I hear they are good, they are also a big operation so sometimes you are more on their schedule as they are hauling several (eight or nine) cars at once.

I ended up paying slightly more ($200ish) for a more door to door operation. They did more to meet my schedule, and I went with their "non-stacking" truck which only hauls two or three cars at a time. I've only used them once, but wouldn't hesitate using them again.

Enclosed Vehicle Transport (EVT): https://enclosedvehicletransport.com/

Well Bj7tricarb, I agree that ICL is not your local delivery co. However, in there enclosed trailers they never carry more than Four cars. Similarly, I do not know how you can get a more door to door service they practically put my car in the garage.--Keoke

Well Keoke, it's just my recommendation. Never meant it to imply that one was better than the other... I acknowledged that I've heard good things about Intercity, and I stated my personal experience with EVT. As far as door to door: The smaller truck was better for the neighborhood where my car was in Rhode Island (which was not running at the time) to access. The larger truck companies wanted the car pushed to the end of the road because of how tight it was, but EVT backed right up to the driveway. Again, I'm not telling anyone this is the only way to go, but I was happy with EVT.

OK I hear you I kust wanted to put the record straight so cut me a little slack.-Keoke-

When I purchased my Healey back in '96 I used Passport to ship the car from LA to the east coast. I was very satisfied with the service and care they took with my car.

Passport is now a part of FedEx. I have used, or referred others to them several times. Very pleased with the service.
