hi to all,is there any one out there who could help me? ive recently bought a healy 3000 mk1 raced car which was owned and raced by a fella called toni elshof from norwich! would anybody have any history to relate to this? Also in the deal i bought a 100/4 universal laminations hard top which is in good condition considering how old these are! im lead to believe these are very rare, would anybody no the value or best place to advertise it? regards Russ21

Thank for the information Healeyrick, the hyperboards site looks like it could be handy! ide like to find out history on the lightweight 3000 as thats the one i bought, do you no were it was raced at all? ive got snetterton raceway checkin there archives for me but no reply as off yet.

Is this the car you have:

"1959 Austin Healey 3000 Mk1.supplied by the Abingdon Factory Competition Department for racing to BMC works driver, the late John Gott. Raced from 1959 to 1986, when it was last driven competitively at Montlehery by John Curtis. During 27 years of competition, this 3000 with aluiminium panels evolved into its current Modsport racer-specification, which includes widened wings and huge JA Pearce Magna alloy wheels. Despite storm damage to one front wing, scuttle and apron, this is a project that does provide the BIg Healey fan with a rare chance to become the owner of a Race Car with driver providence at modest cost."

If so, it should be quite easy to trace in the UK as John Gott was a well known competitor.

John Gott is most associated with ex-works rally car SMO 746 which he raced at the club level after retiring from the BMC Team up until he died in a race at Lydden Hill in 1972.

hi Rick, no thats not the one i bought! i wished it was, the one ive got is referred to as the light weight healey! it has all aluminium panels apart from bonnet and boot which are fibre glass, it has all aluminium undertray and has wolfrace alloy wheels fitted, apparantly TONI ELSHOF was a bit off a name in racing healeys mainly sprites though.

Hi dougie, i dont think its a car what john gott raced,i was told it was what Toni Elshof raced, it looks like the one racing beside the green healey in your pic.
