I just bought a AH 3000 project car from Texas. It arrived in pieces. Nameplate no. is HBT7L / 4014 and firewall no. is 3029 BT&L 4177. Can anyone tell me what model and year this is?
Bruce - whereabouts in NJ are you? I am originally from there. Anyhow there are some great Healey books and I would recommend at least one which has a pciture of 3 blue Healeys on the cover. Great information about how you car should look once you get the year etc. Amazon has a good price.
I am sure someone here will answer your question but if not I can look it up in one of my books. Again I am sure someone will do so before I get to my book.
Bruce (I like that name) I'm way out near PA border in a small town north of Clinton. Thanks for the tip about the book. I'm sure I'll start collecting books soon but right now I just want to know what I have. I'm an old TR3 man and don't know much about AH's.
Welcome to the forum, Bruce.
Your car should be a 1960 3000 MkI, if I did the research right. I'm sure Reid Trummell or someone will be along in awhile and clear this all up.

The model is "3000" (also sometimes called a "3000 Mark I"). It was probably built in about the late summer of 1959, and probably registered/titled as a 1960.
I cannot recommend strongly enough that you join the Austin-Healey Club USA -- as part of your membership you will receive a copy of the Austin-Healey Resource Book which includes answers to questions such as the ones you asked.
Just to make things difficult, I messed up and typed in the wrong VIN. I wrote "firewall no. is 3029 BT&L 4177" and meant to write "3029 BT7L 4177". I'm doubt that I confused any of you but I wanted to set the record straight. Again, thanks.
