I agree with ThomP. having owned both cars. The original Z had many of the attributes of our cars (except the top didn't fold) and is kind of the evolution of the Big Helaey's. However, Datsun looked more to the E Type and some Ferraris for inspiration, but retained the long hood, short rear that is the "classic" sports car platform.
