Hello All,

Can anyone offer some directions or information as to where I could find information on Austin Healey 3000 serial numbers and how they line up with the year models? Specifically, I would like have something that would tell me what year and month a specific car number was built.

Thanks for any assistance.

Larry

Best source I can think of, though they tend to deal with specific serial numbers. Price is a little higher these days.

Larry,
If you are interested in an approximation, in Clausager's Origional Austin Healey he lists the number of cars built each year and the range of serial numbers. From this info you can calculate about when your car was built probably within a week or so. If you want specifics you must do as Randy suggests. Have a good day!

Look in the AHCUSA Resource book or the front of a Moss motors catalog

Hey, Thanks to all for the feedback. I am familiar with the Moss Motors Catalog and the British Motors Heritage Trust. I will search out the other suggestions.

Randy, did I read your Heritage certificate right? back in '84 it only cost you $5.00. Man I wish I had done mine back in the '70's. cheers Genos2

At that time, the $5.00 was just a suggestion, they would've done it for free. I'm not sure you would've gotten anything in the 70s, as the Heritage dept. wasn't organized until the early 80s.

Yes, a lot cheaper then, but doesn't the recent ones come on stock certificate type paper? If someone has a nice scan (size not important) they can send me, I will put it online. Any personal information can be covered up, if need be. It would be nice to compare the old/new Heritage Certs.

Get this; a local M Rdstr buddy was over here last weekend and was talking about getting a similar report (for his 275 GTB & 330 GTS) from Ferrari back in the 70s for the same $5.00. Nowadays, Ferrai Classiche charges $2500.00 to certify your car.
