Austin Healey 100 S Original brass plate on Ebay

Are you saying that this plate with the description of "this car is a replica" was attached to authentic 100 S's? Shucks, I just watched one race last weekend and later discounted it because of the word "replica" on the plate.

It was at Watkins Glen and painted BRG, the team had at least one 100M, I thought it might be a replica as well.

Re: Austin Healey 100 S Original brass plate on

It would be very difficult to fake a true 100S . There is just too much that is different. In the fifties 'replica' meant an exact copy. You see basically the same plate in XK's.

Does anyone know of this 100s that goes vintage racing?

Re: Austin Healey 100 S Original brass plate on

The 100S you saw is indeed a real 100S. It is the only one painted spruce green and was originally owned by Jackie Cooper. The car is raced by folks from PA who are the US distributer for CapeSport AH products from the UK (in the US they are operated as Triple S Motors). Not sure if the 100M is a factory car or one that has been upgraded. I also race a '56 100M in the VSCCA (white over black, #09).

The 100S brass plate sold for $305.00. A good price IMHO.

100S at Goodwood

there was 2 racing at Goodwood Revival, one had ex F1 driver Johnny Herbert at the wheel and I think was a 100S, the other was a 100, not an S I think, maybe a Le Mans.

Re: 100S at Goodwood

Thanks Wangdango, I saw 3 100M's at the vintage race. I didn't want to bother the teams they looked pretty engaged and I had to get going. I wish now I'd taken the time. Were you at the Zippo weekend? I have a picture of a white 100M, but only the grille, can't see the coves.

Re: 100S at Goodwood

dar100,
no, was at the races week earlier (rolex vintage festival at lime rock park).

Ah, well, it was a great weekend. I'll look for you.
