Austin Farina

There is a car listed on ebay as an Austin Sprite Coupe.

here

I'm a Triumph guy, but isn't that a Farina?

I keep looking for an all weather, 50s or early 60s sedan that I can restore. What can those of greater knowledge than I tell me about the Farina?

It is an Austin A40 Farina, I used to have one in black also

It is reasonably accurate to do describe it as a Sprite coupe - same drivetrain, axle, front suspension and chassis legs!

It looks like a MK2 (the black one that's presumably there to show us what it looks like when it's done is a MK2) in which case it should be 1098 not 948 IIRC.

Anyway, they're not fast, but are good fun!

In the 60s, in the U.K., we abused Spridgets by calling them "Sawn-Off A40s".
I never thought I'd see an A40 called a Sprite though!
