August 6, 1945. A uranium bomb, the first nuclear weapon in the world, was dropped in Hiroshima City. It was estimated that its energy was equivalent to 15 kilotons of TNT. Aerial photograph from 80 kilometers away, taken about 1 hour after the dropping. A plutonium bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, three days later.

Wasn't long after that my dad came home from the war. Even though I was just a kid and had no interest in worldly affairs, I do remember it being on the radio news all the time. We only saw it in the theatre before the movie. Yes kids, that's how we saw the news back then, no TVs! :patriot: PJ
