Attention all concerning bears

The New Mexico State Police search and rescue office is advising hikers, hunters, fisherman and golfers to take extra precautions and remain alert for bears while in the Sandia mountains and Pecos wilderness areas. They advise people to wear noise-producing devices such as little bells on their clothing to alert but not startle the bears unexpectedly.
They also advise carrying pepper spray in case of an encounter with a bear. It is also a good idea to watch for fresh signs of bear activity and know the difference between black bear and grizzly bear droppings. Black bear droppings are smaller and contain berries and possibly squirrel fur. Grizzly bear droppings have little bells in them and smell like pepper spray.

You had me going there for a minute - I thought you posted a public service announcement in the wrong forum! Lol!

Just spent 9 days in The Pecos Wilderness with my Wife and Daughter...Beautiful place and sooo remote. Gosh it's quiet around here ALONE.

Love that wilderness area. Been going there since I was 14YO and now I am 50 something.
Cheers, Steve
