BJ8. What is used, bolts, screws, rivets, to attach the rear quarter panel to the area where the door latches. This panel will then be covered by the aluminum trim sheet.

PO used small screws. Yesterday I looked in the real wheel well of another BJ8 and saw small nuts.

Thank you, Roger

Small flat head philips or pozi drive machine screws are used with nuts in the wheel house area.

I think the information from both of you is essentially correct except that the screw heads on a BJ8 are round .---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

The answer is machine screws with nuts. Not sheet metal screws? What size machine screws? Thank you again, Roger

Roger, those little machine screws are unique I would say they are about a 4X 40 screw certainly no larger than a 6 X 32.Mine are SS and I had to use a different screw and method to duplicate the heads.---Keoke

According to the Body Service Parts List for the BJ7/BJ8 the machine screws are CMZ 0308 (Flat head countersunk screw, Zinc 3/16" dia., 1/2" long). The 3/16" dia. is closest to a #10 and I believe this is correct but a tight fit through the hole in the shut panel. There are 16 of them used and have a plain washer, spring washer and nut on the inside fender well side.

Cheers,
John

Roger, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif the flat head screw responses are correct I thought you were talking about the trim screws that attach the aluminum trim to the shut face panel.---Keoke

Good answers, good answers!
