Attaching the quarter panel

Hi everyone. The body shops asks, what is used to attach the quarter panel? I have the quarter panel pack from Moss.

I showed them where the large screws, washer and clips go.

What is used to attach the bottom? Moss's breakdown does not show in detail. Detail shows 2 screws, but different sizes? What should be used? What size?

Also, how many small bolts are used to attach the quarter panel edge to the area where the door latch catch goes?

Moss's quarter panel packet, contains more stuff than their breakdown photo shows. Example, one large machine bolt, no washer, no lock washer and I can't tell from their diagram, where it goes?

The small bolt set for the edge, was one nut short. All the nuts fit, but 4 of those nuts had bigger outside diameters. Whatssupwiththat? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

HI ASUMHLY, "AT THE BOTTOM" : Two 1/4 X 28 phillister head screws with "D" washers behind.,There may also be a drive screw [sheet metal] inserted in the bottom into the CILL extension. There are "7" small screws at the edge. If the nuts are larger OK. There should be two 1/4 X 28 flat head screws no bolts or washers that fit just under the drain channel close to the door and thread into ~ 1'' X 2" X 1/4" plates that locate up under the fender. ---Hope this helps you out a bit---Keoke

Hi Keoke, in case your the one who replies again. I've taken a picture of the area in the quarter panel that gets attached to the "cill" if that is the correct name. The photo shows one bolt currently and the empty hole where the other rivit was. PO attached the quarter by using two large rivits. I will attach another photo, next post, which shows what moss sent me. One bolt, two machine screws(only took a photo of one) and one sheet metal screw. What am I to use, and how many? Thank you, Roger

Roger,

The correct fasteners for the lower attachment are in the middle of your photo. Pan Head Screw (Pozidriv), zinc finish, 3/16" dia.(#10) x 5/8" long. Plain washer under the head, lock washer on the backside and plain nut. There is also a sheet metal screw at the corner close to the door. They all get painted since the wings were attached and then painted. It's a very good idea to get the Mechanical Service Parts list and Body Service Parts List for your car. They have exploded views and codes for most all the fasteners on the car. If I didn't have that for my restoration, I'd be lost /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Cheers,
John

ASUMHLY, I do not know what these people have in their minds. However,if you just install FOUR of the hex head machine screws as shown in your picture you will be ok.The drive screws that were installed originally realy do not need to be used.It appears from your photo that the second mounting screw hole has not been drilled yet, that is the one closest to the door. Both sides should be handeled in this manner.-That Help?---Keoke
