At the State Fair today

Wife and I went to the state fair today. Ended up buying a beautiful piece of art from an African (from Africa) American who recently moved here. His work was just amazing and SWMBO and I both loved a couple of pieces and ended up buying one of them. Also, as we were walking from our car to the fair entrance, we were walking alongside a lady who noticed my veteran's hat and thanked me for my service. Anyway, we started chatting with her and turns out she is the President of the New Mexico chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). When we got to the entrance and had to get our tickets, she stopped me and reached into her purse and pulled out a really beautiful DAR commemorative coin and gave it to me. Itโ€™s really heavy and very well made. Her name is Eleanor Ortiz.

How 'bout sharing a photo of the artwork?

That is fascinating - and kudos to you for leaving it on display to spread the word.

Artist is "Dayis"?

I think thatโ€™s a nick. If you look at the tag above the painting his name appears: William Davis Muwumba
