At Least She Wasn't Driving an SUV

Saw this in the local paper.


ANDERSON - a 29-year-old woman who was
walking on railroad tracks while talking
on her cell phone is recovering after
being struck by a freight train.
The conductor of the Union Pacific train
told authorities that Melinda Champion was
talking on her phone when the train hit her
from behind on Wednesday.
A police sergent said the conductor applied
the emergency brakes when he spotted the woman,
who apparently did not hear the train's whistle
or feel the vibrations on the tracks.
The train struck her at about 45mph,bouncing
her to the side of the tracks.
Police Sgt. Bob Curato told The Associated Press
on Thursday that Champion was recovering at a
local hospital,but her condition was not available.


I hope that she got to finish her important call!

You ever get cut off by someone or just someone with plain rude driving etiquette and when you see them as they drive by, they are blabbing on the phone? Clueless, clueless, morons. Times like these I wish I could pull them over and give them a tongue lashing of my own or ram the snot out of them!

mailbox, last week i walk out the door of the local deli. into the parking lot, next to me i notice a women standing outside a new s.u.v. shes on the phone loudly telling from what i was able to discern her sister something about a party, then i notice a young boy 3-4 years old standing on the front seat turning the steering wheel as if he was driving pressing buttons and yanking on things once in a while the mother would momentarilly interrupt her phone conversation to tell the boy to open the door, she locked the kid and keys in the car while it was running but that issue wasnt important enough to get her off the phone.
 
My wife drives an all wheel drive SUV - necessity for her. But she doesn't yak onna cell phone when driving.
 
basil, my wife also drives an s.u.v. and also would never talk on the phone while driving, i dont think what is being talked about here is an indictment of woman and s.u.v's but rather the lack of responsibility and situational awareness in general of some men and fem.,
 
A few years ago, a buddy and I started from a green light when we see a guy, on the phone, running the red light and coming in our direction! My buddy swerves, but, it's too late...crash!

Front driver side fender and wheel smashed, he never touched his brakes at 40 MPH. We get out of the car (unharmed, thank goodness) to look at the damage...he's still on the phone, holding up his finger, indicating he needs another minute on the phone!!! :wall:
 
But, why was she walking down the railroad tracks?
 
to see if the rails increased her signal strength.

but what color was her hair? :thumbsup:

I really wish they would enforce the no cell while driving law better. :wall:
 
In her case - since she apparently thought she was a train - would the no driving while talking rule apply?
