I did the exact same thing with an original Vise-Grip pliers. Was trying to get a bolt off on my TR6 resto. As Vise-Grip is guaranteed for LIFE, I called them up and told them what happened. I was told to send back with a copy of my original receipt and they would honor the warranty. I said “wait, wait... I’ve had the tool for 35 years and don’t have the receipt”.
I was told there’s nothing they can do then!
A couple of days later I was in Lowe’s and mentioned it to the sales guy. He told me to bring the broken one into the store and pick out a NEW ONE. He told me not to worry as he would get credit from the Vise-Grip rep.

I know we all have lost a tool or two, socket here and there that broken screwdriver tip. Sears Snap-on etc. all cover them if broken. But not lost so when I was still working I would go to swap meet and such buy a bag of old beat up tools and take the Sears ones back for replacements Snap-on the same Ten buck can get you a $100.00 in new tools. Any idea what a new 1 1/2 inch socket cost today. I have a three drawer sears tool box and the track broke so I took it back ( paint like new ) They said only tools were covered not boxes. OK I said then the sales person asked if I was unhappy with the box. Well yes could I return it; Well yes here your money OK can I now buy a new box Well YES . Thank you have a nice day ( still have box today. Madflyer

Had a Snap-On red plastic dead-blow hammer disintegrate on me after 40+ years, plastisciser gave up and the whole thing just crumbled. Handed the pieces to the latest franchise dealer and he said he didn't have one on the truck but would get an order in for the equivalent replacement. Got that a couple weeks later. Can't recall what I put out for the original in '78, but to buy the replacement...

Snap-On 16 OZ. Plastic Hammer

Almost afraid to USE it! :smirk:

That's $22.75 for the hammer ans $50.00 for the name.

Don't forget the true value of a hammer is knowing where to hit. For $75 it must have a laser-guided-aiming system!! (Wait, why is there a laser shining on my head??:wink-new:smile:
