arrrgh - what am I missing

put the SU on this afternoon.

starts with starter fluid

doesn't start without. got my daughter to turn it over - no gas flowing.

tank shows 1/4 full
was working before
I replaced a section of hose and found - and fixed a kink.

can a mechanical pump loose its prime?
Can I check it in situ?

any thoughts?
 
I was having a very similar time and it turned out there was a break in my line and my pump was sucking air.
I found it by putting the front of the car much lower than the gas tank, then the flow of gas started and the place I needed to fix was clear to see.
 
so, I hate my car. decided to start simple. pulled the filler hose at the tank - dry as a bone. had some gas - filled her - nothing.

Looked and figured maybe was the angle was not allowing fuel in - went and got a couple more gallons - still nothing

Got my daughter to turn over then engine - the float is leaking again.

decided to swap the ZS back in - the return spring isn't pulling it back to idle

argh - time to walk away.

BTW - new gas tank and new gauge - would a lack of ground cause it to show 1/4 full?

also. noticed a small coolant leak at the bottom hose - thought I had fixed it last time grumble grumble grumble
 
JP: Lack of proper ground will definetly screw up your fuel guage and mechanical pumps do lose there prime. Take a break, you'll get it.
