TR4/4A ARP Head Stud Question

Hi

I am installing my new ARP head studs (hand tight). Pretty sure I had them seated all the way. I am in the process of torquing the nut (at 70 lbs-ft now). But, on the right side of the engine, three studs appear to have more threads exposed (front, middle and rear stud). Is this normal? It's not a huge difference but, noticeable to the naked eye - say 2mm.

I checked all the stud lengths carefully when installing and compared them to the old studs that came out. I would have expected all the studs to sit flush and even. I just can't recall how my old studs sat in the block.

Thanks

Bob
PS: and all the studs/nuts on the left side (under the valve cover) look completely even

OK, may have found my own answer. See this thread - especially comment in very last post ("I have ARP studs, and the short studs on the intake/exhaust side do stick up farther, but only about 1/16" more then the other studs. I have the lifting eye on the rear stud, so hard to tell what's up with that as it's thicker then the ARP washers."):

I'd be curious what others who've installed ARP have observed.

I didn't notice anything when I put mine on. I used a straight edge and they were all VERY close. I did use an allen wrench to tighten them, then backed them out, and blew the holes out just to make sure there wasn't something in the bottom. When I put them back in they were all relatively the same height and only were hand tight. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
