ARP big end bolts.

I have installed the ARP bolts on my engine and torqued them to the figures enclosed in the package. I did check the bolt length before I tightened then the stretch after torqueing.
I notice there does not seem to be any form of security. IE locking tabs, lock washers or nylock nuts. Am I missing something?

There's quite a bit of technology in designing threaded joints that stay put. I have no doubt that ARP understands all that stuff. If you do some research on the subject, I think you'll find that lock tabs are a bad idea, helical spring lock washers have minimal value, at best, and nylocs are good but probably can't take the temperature inside the engine.

It sounds to me like you've done everything right and according to the ARP instructions. Trust that, and don't worry.
 
Got it all together and mounted on a stand. Makes moving it around easier. I hope to set it up so I can start and run the engine before I install it in the car.

Did you have the big ends resized with the ARP bolts in place?
 
I must admit that I did not get the big ends resized after I installed the ARP bolts. I did see a You tube video that showed a very slight change in big end diameter when the ARP bolts were torqued down.
I used the stretch method of torqueing and had to go up 5 ft/lb to get the required stretch.

When you set up a rig to run it, take torque into account!

I'll not go into the details, but an incident involving a 4.2L Jag engine once gave us a surprise... o_O

I would imagine there is a bit more torque from the 4.2L Jag engine. Did it involve a bit of revving it up?
