i am about to send the people of Healy5Speed in North Carolina $ 1.800 for their conversion kit. But they will not accept a wire transfer, nor take credit card and only will take a money order.I m kind of nervous....
On the other hand they never answer the phone and they take weeks and even months to answer an email.
Is it safe to send them the $ 1.800 in a money order ??
What has been the experience of other people dealing with them ??
All experience is welcomed ...!!!
Thanks,

I've never heard anything bad said about Pete Delaney--he has been a member of the NC AHC group for a long time and is well thought of. He was suffering with some health issues a few years back and perhaps that may explain what you speak of.

Since you live in Columbia and he in Charlotte area--less than 100 miles--why not simply drive up there, give him the money and get the transmission?

Dear musme, I love it, great comeback. LOL You can't help but love the BCF what a small world we now live in.

Thanks,
I purchased a complete kit from Pete over 3 years ago. I had some issues with it and he did help with questions. The trans he gave me has problems staying in 5th gear(creeps slowly out of gear and I had to hold the shift lever with my hand to keep that from happening and the speedo gear didn't work). There was a few other issues however, you can download some very good installtion instructions that a couple of guys posted on the internet that will pretty much walk you through it. My "kit" was probably the first one he sold.A fellow club member and I both ordered our kits together and he had no problems with his.

I purchased a kit from Pete 2 years ago. Communication was a little difficult, but he always did respond and was very helpful after the sale with installation advice. I found him to be very helpful and concerned about the quality of his product. I would buy from him again without hesitation.

"I am in Colombia, South America !!
3000 miles away.....
Thanks,"

As Gilda Radner's Church Lady used to say: "Oh that's different--nevermind."

Ah, I've been there.....spent 18 months in Bogota, Villavicenci, and Loma Linda (near Puerta Lleras) out in the Llanos......

AFTER the "trouble".

Never did get used to "La Mordida" from the military checkpoints......

I have bought two kits from Pete. He must have changed the kit to include the transmission because my kits were half that amount. Both kits worked well and Pete shipped what he said he would ship. I don't think he reads email much, and this is a part time job so catch him on the weekends or late afternoon.

Pete did change to include a transmission with the kits (if needed), after I asked him to include a "turn key" kit with the transmision in it. He would be better at shopping for the correct transmission and checking it out than I would(more time and cost considerations). Two kits were shipped to me, one for a fellow local club member and one for me). The shipping on one pallet also saved money.

It is getting harder to find the old Supra transmissions that have the ratio I like. One of our club members just bought on from Pete with the transmission and the transmission was from a 2006 truck. Low milege and should work very well.

I purchased a kit (w/o tranny) several years ago. I agree the communication was erratic at times but Pete always did answer the questions and was very helpful/concerned the installation went well and was satisfactorly completed. Would do business with him again without hesitation.

Musme - are you in Colombia, South America or Columbia, South Carolina?

Pete Delaney is one of the really good guys in the Healey world. I spent a couple hours with him at his home and shop in early November. He let me browse through his large stash of engines, gearboxes, rear axles, and derelict BJ8 chassis, collecting data for the BJ8 registry. I have known Pete for many years and see him frequently at Healey events in our part of the world.

He is not the swiftest to respond to e-mails from me, either. As someone has said, Pete had some medical problems a few years ago that he is still recovering from. But, he is honest and reliable and you can trust your money with him.

I am in Bogota, Colombia, South America, Planet Earth, Milky Way Galaxie... further gets complicated....

Thanks for all the answers regarding Pete Delaney an I will proceed to order the kit in early January and thanks to all the answers I now fill completely convinced that i will get my kit.
Thanks and happy holidays to all

Is that road over the mountains to Villavicencio still a suicide run?

I remember....no lines, taxis and busses gave no regard for staying on their side.....2 lanes....cars 4 abreast.....no guardrails.....and that was almost 30 years ago....
