ar brake drum lockup

Re: While my buddy was pulling his Mk II out of the garage yesterday to work on a different issue, there was a "clunk" from the driver's side drum.

It now seems that the drum is locked (about as well as it would be if the e-brake was on. An hour and a half of trying everything we could to remove the drum accomplished nothing (prying, loosening the self-adjuster, rubber and brass mallets) but he *was* able to ride the cluctch and get it back into the garage when it was time we had to leave.

Anyone have any ideas as to what might have 'clunked'/happened and what steps he might want to take to get the drum off?

Is this the same car that Sprocket posted the brake problem? Looks like both you guys are in Florida. 'Cept you're in "sunny" South Florida. :wink:
