I am finally getting the apron on the car but I find that the hood latching assembly is hitting the by-pass hose. I did pre-attach the hood latching assembly to the apron before mounting it on the body. Maybe not a good thing. The latch spring is hitting the by-pass hose.

Your thoughts and suggestions on what to do next would be greatly appreciated.

Mine is very close to the hose 1/8". There is some adjustment in the bracket where it mounts to the apron support bar. Does the pin on the latch assembly line up with the hood ok? It needs to go into a small oval shaped hole in the hood. You may be able to bend the latch assembly forward enough the give the needed clearance.
 
Something's not right. I have about a half inch of clearance there. Here's a couple of pix that may help you compare the postion of the rear edge of the apron, tstat housing etc to try and work out what's off:

If you look at the band that retains the spring, you will notice it "leans" a bit. I bet you assembled it leaning in the wrong direction. Or, you may have done what I did and bent it straight...and later realized it is supposed to be crooked!
 
Judging from all the great pictures (thanks!) I have everything mounted correctly. The apron is not snugged up so when I do that, things may sort them selves out. I will admit that when I got the apron on I was feeling pretty puny and not thinking at my peak. Early Sunday morning now and I feel much better. Thanks for all of your prompt answers AND the pics.
I am truly excited about getting the apron on! It's amazing how much that simple act bouyed my spirits and motivated me. It really looks like a TR now.

Took another look this morning. By-pass hose is installed corectly. In looking at it though it looks like it be an allignment problem more than anything esle. That I can fix.
Geo did you use some kind of hose dressing on your hose? Sure looks nicer than mine, even though mine is brand new.

Dick , CJD is correct , the spring holder is bent so it will lean and it looks like its installed backward. Undo the 1/4" bolts and rotate the holder , it should fit. Ran into the same problem with mine.
 
I would suggest leaving the spring set up off for now and get the apron to fit. If the head lights or grill are in, I would take those out also. Often will vehicles that have had some body damage those hold downs on the inner fenders that hold the tie piece need to open up some and the holes slotted. I take either a rotary file or a rat tailed file and shorten it then put it in a cordless drill with a clutch and set the clutch soft and egg shape the holes for wiggle room. Often I take tie wire and set two ends in an adjacent bolt cage and loop it so I can turn buckle the wire and suck the panel exactly where I want it then cut the wire out latter. In addition, I use pointed tip bolts so that they start in the nut cage better. Setting an apron just right with fresh paint and chrome beading with keep house pets at a distance, but they will come back when the job is done.
 
I Did, I Did! I got it backwards, sheech! I do believe that there is a section of Murphys Law that states that if it can be done wrong, it will be.
