Must be springtime in France. A French pole vaulting champion has run naked with his pole through the streets of Paris and posted the video on the Internet, hoping to draw attention to his quest for a new sponsorship deal.

His agreement with Nike wasn't renewed (no pun intended ...).

Have a good day!

nutmeg, i guess if one is inclined to run about naked its safest to have ones "pole" in hand.

C'est la vie

Reminds me of one the best-ever comments made on TV:

Streaker ran behind David Niven during the Oscar presentations. Didn't phase him; he said "...the only laugh that man will ever get in his life is by stripping off and showing his shortcomings."

Niven was a class act, indeed!

If the Frenchman was worried about theft, would he consider a pole lock?

And I agree with Mickey about David Niven. He was a great one. What was his last movie? I remember that he was suffering from Cancer and Rich Little was called in to do the voice overs for his lack of speech.

I have lots of questions...

David Niven volunteered for active duty in WW2. He fought during the liberation of Europe, and his batman was a certain Private Peter Ustinov!!

This is a quote: "I will, however, tell you just one thing about the war, my first story and my last. I was asked by some American friends to search out the grave of their son near Bastogne. I found it where they told me I would, but it was among 27,000 others, and I told myself that here, Niven, were 27,000 reasons why you should keep your mouth shut after the war."

Mickey said that he was a class act. If anything that is an understatement!

I removed the link to a recording of his Oscar moment, as there was a corresponding link to some inappropriate sites. If you've never seen his "performance", Google "David Niven" and "Streaker". You'll not regret it!
