I've installed quite a few. Well made, easy to install, more reliable, less amp draw than those 30 year old motors, and best of all - cheap, considering all the R&D that went into them.

And i'm not just trying to suck a free one out of them. Only a satisfied customer.

Fans only help if the radiator is in good shape. I've had great results with the aluminum replacements. They look a little different than the originals, but they work.
 
I had been fighting an overheating problem as well in my e-type...as Phil mentioned I went the other route....put in the aluminum aftermarket radiator and replaced the original
dual electric fans (which were both shot) with OEM all from XK's...as mentioned in my other post during the ordeal the fan helps but usually will not individually resolve a HOT engine problem.
 
Another thing that's overlooked is the thermostat. The '61 thru '67 E's (as well as all the earlier XK's) used an unusual thermostat to block off the radiator by-pass. If you don't use the proper one, the water will continually by-pass the radiator and not get cooled. Path of least resistance, result - overheating.

Most usual vendors carry them. One hint - if it's not $25+, you're getting the wrong one. ( I'm sure they're made by only one firm and sold to everybody, they're sort-of hand re-made using a common thermostat, hense the high price.) Some will sell you one for $5 or $10, but it is probably for a 1968 or newer E. It won't work.

One other thing. I'm sure Cool Cat has someone make the aluminum radiators and the other vendors buy from him and re-sell to you. We needed an aluminum V12 E radiator with an auto trans cooling tube in it for a customer. They weren't available anywhere. We sent the original radiator to Cool Cat and they made a new aluminum one for us and now they're available. Didn't take long, either.

I guess I should have made this clear when I posted this, but I am not dealing with an overheating problem, so I am not looking for a miracle cure out of a fan. However, having owned cars in the past with marginal cooling capacity, and knowing the E-types reputation for marginal cooling, I would just like to give myself as much buffer as possible.

I'm a bit confused by your comment that the bypass hose allows the coolant to "bypass the radiator"....how can that be when the bypass hose goes straight into the radiator? What you say is true on a Small Block Ford, or a BMC A-Series, but I'm having trouble picturing that with the Jag engine.
