Anyone up for this?

I was thinking if we get his car over here, we could fix it!

But seriously...this event looks like fun!

Tinster would have to take the boat along with the Crypt Car. I don't think he's medically allowed to fly anymore. Then, getting it to Wisconsin would be a larger reliablity test for cryptie than the run itself. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif But it would be a good taget to shoot for in a year or so. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ya just never know who might turn up at
charity functions. Particularly for children.
Wendy and I are sponsor donors of an island wide
children's charity. So you got me hooked with that
from the git go.

Sadly it's true, Tinster's been grounded from flying
over 3000 feet altutude or more than 45 minutes air time. Lungs are mostly shot and I need to live at sea level
in warm, near the ocean conditions.

Oh poor me- forced by health to live in a tropical paradise!!

But I spent this morning at the Wellcraft dealer's
showroom. Big interntional boat show here in PR the
last week in January.

Seeing as I'm a truly creative architect, I've already
sketched out an tow barge made from empty 55 gal oil
drums. I also know a large item shrink wrap packaging
vendor. One cubic foot of empty oil drum is needed to
float 61 pounds of Crypt car....

So we lash the shrink wrapped Crypt Car to the oil
drum barge and tow him behind the Wellcraft, island
hopping our way over to Palm Beach, Florida to Jupiter inlet. They got a decent boat ramp there.

Stick Crypy in a large U-haul, drive to Ohio- he's
in the endurance challenge. "Last, Dead Last" finisher.

Still difficult to fathom The Crypt Car breaking down
so totally, considering the new parts, refurbishing and
easily over 1000 hours of labor lavashined on him.

I guess "parts cars" figure they did their duty once and that's enough. They just want to rust in peace.

Dale in Bayamon, PR
Much better spirits after getting behind the
wheel of the Wellcraft this morning. And I have
no idea where the Crypt Car might be today.
His dead carcass hauled off somewhere.

I would love to give it a go, but it is a bit far away for me.

There are a couple SoCal based events that are 500 touring oriented. I think the next one is in April and is kind of serving as motivation for me on the barn find (ok, ok, someone's back yard) TR6.

There's auto barge that runs between Jacksonville and PR every week. I used to bring heavy equipment to Jax that was sent to PR. It seems there would be room for a TR6 on one of the four decks. Now all we need is a benvolent Brit mechanic in Florida....

I'm only 100 miles north of Madison, I'd be interested to see what the route is. Think I'll keep an eye on that page.

I should just about have all to "bugs" worked out of the Bright Idea by then.

I should have my TR2 roadworthy by then....you could follow me with all of my spare parts.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

I was actually hoping that I could use some of your boot for mine... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Actually, I would probably tow dolly mine TO the Run with a s***load of spares in the pick-up box. I'll have room for more spares if i go....HINT! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif

The best way to get your car reliable is to go on an event like this. I took my badly "rebuilt" TR4 on a TR Register rally many years ago. The thought of a long drive like that forces you into checking everything over and the best thing is that there are plenty of like-minded and knowlegeable people on such events should you brake down. As it turned out my car stopped and the 20 or so people who swarmed all over it quickly diagnosed a dead coil and soon had the car up and running again. I never looked back again after that and I was able to help out other people on subsequent events. The more the car is used the more reliable it becomes.

Thanks Nick-

Would if I could.

My TR6 cannot accomplish 6 miles w/out falling apart.
I am afraid it is in the outer limits beyond all help.

The crunching, banging, explosive sounds the other night
when it died in the middle of heavy traffic were most
probably it's final gasp of a death knell.
