TR2/3/3A Anyone running tubeless radials on TR3 steel radials?

I understand the original steel rims do not have the extra "bump" for holding a radial on, but is it really a big concern for someone not tracking a car? I would think possible air leaks at the rivets inside the rim would be more of a nuisance. Who is or was running non tubes radials and have you had issues?

*oops. Rims, that is...

IMO the whole business about not mounting tubeless radials on wheels without "safety beads" is nonsense. Safety beads were a safety improvement, similar to tubeless tires, introduced at very roughly the same time. But neither requires the other.

The safety bead is only to try to keep the tire against the main bead while driving with a flat. I've been running tubeless radials for a long time, and I have had flats that unseated the tire. Still a lot better IMO than having a tube blow out; and a tire with a blown tube won't stay on the wheel any better than a flat tubeless.

Me too - a plus is that I mount my own tires and a tubeless is much easier than having to futz around with a tube in there.
