I found this licence plate lamp assembly and wonder what it may fit? The red one on the left is from a Spridget, don't think it's MGA...

One on the right looks "Bugeye", just a little bit longer than the common Spridget one.

No, Bill, the Bugeye plinth has no central ridge, and is not cast but a sheet-metal stamping! Could it be early Jag or MGA? The left one is definitely a Spridget unit!

Right, the Bugeye one is smooth. I was starting to think early Jag. I should post this over on the Jag board. Here is another shot showing the larger one has a more flat back to it compared to the spridget angled one.

Not a:

MK1, MK2, MK7, MK8, MK9, MK10, 420, XK150, looks too narrow for 120 or 140.

The longer one is from a 69 Sprite or Midget, that was the only year of the longer plate lamp.
The short one is from a 62-68 Spridget.
Bugeyes used a smooth plinth but the others will work on a Bugeye.
