A BOOOMB!? Yieeee!?

Ok, you're probably wondering what this post is about. Well, several weeks ago (about 10 to be exact) I ordered a new horn/trafficator for my 50 Daimler SS from David Beales in the UK. As weeks went by, I became increasingly worried that my part was lost forever. David was checking things his end while I was cheking my end.

Well, today, I rang him up on the telephone and learned the fate of my horn/trafficator switch. Seems that Customs in UK thought it looked like a bomb (I'm guessing they X-Rayed it and saw some suspicious electrical switch with wires coming out of it). Anyway, the package has been stopped at customs and sent back to David. The good news is, its been found! David is going to work with the post master to re-send it by air mail.

(David is a very nice guy by the way).

Those darn "minkeys" in customs... swine

It could have been worse. You could have gone over there to get it in person. Then when they spotted it in your luggage, it would have gotten personal.

Hmmmm, it looked like something explosive......so they SEND IT BACK? Mind you, from what I remember of my erstwhile counterparts in H.M. Customs and Excise, their IQs were not much greater than their shoe sizes. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif

I'm just glad they didn't take it out back and blow it up! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

They probably opened it and took it out, and upon seeing that it was harmless after all they had to send it back, as it was no longer a secure package.

That's a possibility. I'm just happy it was found! I was afraid it may hve just gotton lost or mis-delivered or fell off the boat /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Well they might have gotten rid of some terrorists that way. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Some years back I was pulled up at Heathrow with two expensive white metal car models in my hand luggage that they thought were explosive devices. Erk. At the time I didn't think about it the same way as Matt!

I've heard of something falling off the back of a lorry, but the boat?
