MGB-GT Anyone need any GT parts?

My "wishful thinking" '74 GT arrived yesterday. It's too far gone to rebuild.

Therefore, I decided to part it out. I still get the fun of taking a car apart, and I might be able to get enough money out of it to buy a car in better shape.

They're never too far to be rebuilt. Where did you pick this one up, Ebay or somewhere else sight unseen?

Yep. I knew it was a risk, but I always considered parting it out, as plan-B. Still, this provided an excellent example of how not to buy a car.

I know everything can be rebuilt, but when they're as far gone as this one, you have to ask "how much will it cost", and "is it worth it".

With the amount of rust-through, on this car, I just can't afford to replace enough sheet metal to bring it back.

What's the interior like? I'm after door caps.
Does a 74 have HS or HIF?
If they are carbs with seperate float bowls, what price would you like for all that stuff (inc heat shield, manifold, linkages and air clraners)?
This Weber is garbage.

Interior is, to quote Jeremy Clarkson "absolute rubbish".

Carb is a 2-barrel Mikuni. Looks like a DCOE clone. I might just hang on th that.

I just got through watching a car show that demonstrated how to fix the sort of body-rot this car has.

I may hold off selling anything, until I have the whole thing stripped down, just to see what I'd need to do, repair wise.

What car show?
Sounds like one I need to find!

I have a couple thousand /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif pictures I can send you, of my parts car rebuild, if you wish. All on Photobucket so won't take up your space.

"MuscleCar" on Spike TV.

Look for the episode "Project '67 Le Mans - Body fabrication and repair".
