Hey all,
There is a 56 BN2 with a 289 Ford engine Nasty Boy for sale on ebay right now. It's red and looks pretty nice and asking $30,000 for it. Not interested myself but know a lot of Healey guys like 'em so thought I would post this. Don't have the listing number but easy enough to find.
Regards,
Mike

It's probably not a bad deal for somebody looking for that kind of thing. I particularly like the fact they didn't hack up the stock dash or put in a piece of plywood with late-model new Autometer gages. Overall a stock looking car, which is nice.

But why the h-ll would you put a Ford-o-matic in it?? I can hear them now "what's the most expensive to rebuild, heaviest, and debatably worst performing automatic Ford ever made...oh and it only has 2 speeds, EVEN BETTER!". I wonder if an FMX was their second choice? Why wouldn't you just throw in the C4 that came behind that engine and be done with it?

Oh yeah, and lacquer paint? Not something I would advertise seeing as that indicates it was painted by some guy in a garage. It could be a decent job but more than likely not.

Just my 2 (or 10) cents on it.

Nice looking car. Hot Rod air cleaner looks out of place and not sure why you would go through all that effort and put a 289 2bbl, 2 speed auto in it.

Maybe it's a Not Very Nice Boy instead of a Nasty Boy.

Ahhh yes, the venerable "Fairlane V8" 289ci and 200hp. Didn't those guys win Le Mans with a variant of that engine (probably not the 2bbl 200hp one )

Anyway, looks like the engine is set back pretty far (a good thing) and they might have run into the old Sunbeam Tiger thing of when you put a 4 barrel carb/intake on there you can't get an air cleaner on it because of the firewall. That might also be why that have that goofy looking one on there even with the 2 barrel. There's no excuse for the 2 speed auto though.
