Anyone left with a stock sprite

I was curious if anyone on this form has a number matching stock sprite. People seem to modify these cars so heavily that there are few number matching cars left.
Regards,
Adam

My sprite is a 64 mk3, STOCK as a rock,
Origional colour, engine, "and 12g295 head"
I have a alloy rocker cover on it but have the origional austin one, Oh not origional airfilters, I want to find some if anyone has some.

I also need one AH hubcap if anyone has one of them, One of mine is scuffed, But put me down as origional, I have posted a pic on the page....

Everytime I look at mine, I seem to change something....that's half the fun!
But I admit, I would like a nice, all-original one as well.

Not a sprite but a 76 Midget that is 100% original except for parts that wear out or rott (i.e. Top, carpet, tyres, belts etc) even the paint, AM radio, mech fuel pump, original jack & tools. Found it stored for 20+ years inside

PS to this note... How many times have you seen an ad that listed "completely restored" "original" "pure stock" or other words; then in the detail it would say something like..."with a Chevy 350ci F.I. and tuned exhaust" or other ????

Quite few times I've looked at cars thinking that it was stock. 350's are like the village bicycle... everyones gone for a ride. ;-)
My family has two austin healey bugeye sprites. Too my suprise my motor was not the orginial 948, but a 1098 which will be changed too a 1275. My brothers austin healey I believe is the orginial high compression engine, but we may swap out the body because there seems to be a bit of chicken wire and bondo in it. :_(

Yep, when it was on the road I took it pretty easy though.
When it's done, I'll rebuild the original 948.
And hopfully move on to a B or Spit or 3000.
We'll see.

You're driving a smooth case transmission with a 1275!?!?

Didn't realize 'all original' cars were such a rarity these days! I have a dead stock '62 MG Midget. All of my Britmobiles are stock. I prefer it that way because I enjoy driving these cars the way they were designed originally. Most of the modifications commonly made to Spridgets greatly enhance their drivability, but these folks are missing out on some of the virtues that attracted many of us to these cars in the first place. Like having to think waaay ahead when coming to a stoplight (face it, the stock brakes suck), or not being able to sustain freeway speeds.
Or non-sycro first gear. ;-)

I am trying to put my 1960 Bugeye back on the road. So far, it is all stock, except for a black paint job by the PO. I think it is part of the fun to track down original, NOS or rebuilt / refurbished parts. If I ever decide to strip it down and repaint it, I will probably go with an original paint scheme, although maybe not the original iris blue. I also plan to add lap belts, although I am not sure if these offend "originality." I may also add some period-correct modifications, such as a different steering wheel or Mini-lite wheels. I am planning to stay with the 948 cc motor, smooth case transmission, drum brakes, etc. Unless I change my mind. Again, that seems to be part of the fun.

I have a pure stock '60 Bugeye that still has the original engine, trans, interior, paint job, tires, etc. Of course, it has set for a number of years while I restore my '60 BT7. When I get to it, it will not have the original rocker panels (they had started to rust before I got the car) and I plan only to convert to wire wheels and disc brakes.

I just picked up a Bugeye with 38063 original miles on it, that I think still has the factory air in the spare tire!
Can't get any more stock than that!

Nice! Does it have power steering and electric windows too?

Just kidding...I read your comment quickly and wondered if *any* Bugeye ever had A/C?

Sounds like you scored a good one...and of course, one can never have too many Sprites.

Sure, Nial. It has the power door locks, too!
Top and sidecurtains off, it has all the air conditioning you'll ever need!
You'd need a separate engine to run the AC compressor on a Bugeye, wouldn't you?
Jeff
