Anyone know where I can get one of these?

The PO lost one of the long screws that holds the motor to the wiper assembly for my Bugeye. Does anyone know where I can get one? I went to a couple of hardware stores, and they didn't have the correct threads or screw head I needed. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

If you're stuck, I'm in Kitchener wednesday for Spanauer again.

Welcome to da club.
Unit I just rebuilt for my Jag had none. They are about an inch longer than anything available.
So, until I find a junk motor to snag bolts from, I used a 10-32 ready rod (all-thread), with nuts on the end.

Thanks for the offer JP. I will look around a little before I ask you to do that. Never thought of trying threaded rod. So far though, it seems like an odd thread size, TOC. I will check MacMaster, but the problem is I can't figure out the thread size.

it'll be fine thread - take the part and use smaller bolts to find thread size then look for length

JP, I counted the threads, and it looks like it has 32. It appears that it is a 10-32, but when I use a screw or bolt of that size, it does not thread in very nicely. Who knows what the PO did to the threads. I had thought about cleaning the threads with a 10-32 tap, but I want to make sure before I ruin it. I will try the site you listed, bugedd.

Most of those Lucas intermittent wiper motors I've seen have been 10-32.
If it DOES thread, but not nicely, it's the same thread.
If it won't thread, even ugly, it's something else.

The fact that most are 10-32 and, the fact that the PO "lost" it - meaning I suspect, couldn't get it to fit so didn't bother, means you may need to chase out the threads.

Sorry about you loosing your wiper motor bolt. Coincidentally I was finishing up the overhaul of my wiper motor this after noon; I encountered a similar problem while installing the new sun dry kit. I believe a little media blasting material had found its way in the holes making the bolt tight while threading in. I like you wanted to be carefully not to cross thread the body of the motor so I took my tap and dies and carefully started checking the bolt. TOC is right, it turns out to be a 10-32 die that threaded smoothly on to the bolt. I only had the two that came with the motor. Good Luck to you!!

Man that is a nice job you did, impressive.

Thanks for the screw, Ray. Thanks for the picture BluMax - what a beautiful job. Wish mine will look like that when I am done, but that just isn't going to happen. A big thanks to all of you who helped. I don't know why I am surprised that this little job has turned into such a big job on this "simple" car.
