Never saw a TD lowered so much. Does it look familiar to anyone? PJ

Never saw it running/racing in the southeast. Sorry.

That's pretty extreme.

A LOT of the MG T-series cars we race with look like this one, with cycle fenders, an open engine cover and sometime cutback rear fenders.

Some of my best races have been with ~Paul Fitzgerald and his #833 TD~

Look at the relationship of the front hubs to the grill versus that of Paul's car--looks like the hood has been lengthened, perhaps to accept a different engine?

It is the Shields - McKinsey TD spl that came in 15th at the 1953 Sebring. James Shields drove it - partner is J Robert [Bob] McKinsey. The west coast Erb TC special was built low like this, too.

It is a 1950s TD special that ran at the 1953 Sebring 12 Hour race - came in 15th with James Shields driving - co-owner is Robert J. McKinsey. See the early 1950s Rambler in this pic. David Ash had some fast MGs entered, too.

In the days when MG specials were so modified there was not many choices for shorter radiators like now. The stock TC/TD rad was moved forward to lower it. Many used aluminum body panels to lighten the cars and don't much resemble stock Tseries bodies. I used a 544 Volvo radiator in my MG special - cools better and requires no oil cooler during hard driving. The 444 and 544 rad fits in a TC-TD shell nicely, too.

The Erb TC special that looks something like this ran a hot XPAG engine with a Blower and later a 215 Pontiac/Buick V8 with no heating probems - also remember this was long before electric fans.
