Re: Anyone know of an MGB seering rack rebuild kit
uh... okay, but that was kinda my point: $200 for what's s'posed to be a NEW rack, sold by the "stockists" seems a great price... "too good to be true"... as did $300 for a rear bumper assembly, which has now started to show pitting; $150 for a "new" grille assembly, which required modifications to fit properly (and a tacky screen printed emblem!); trim moldings which DO NOT securely attach to the clips, requiring "MacGyverin'; chrome bits with insufficient chrome (cladding layer showing through THIN chroming)... this list is nauseatingly long. The car is only six months into this rebuild, hasn't been on the road yet. I have a boatload of shims, boots, column bushings et-al for the steering assembly from "The Old Days", and simply need the rack bushings/bearings to make the original rack BETTER than the "new" $200 replacement, certes.
Do you have a parts source with higher quality parts? I'm willing to pay more IF the stuff actually measures up to the "original issue" bits 'n pieces. I'm tired of having to *pay* someone, then having to waste my time re-engineering their "new" parts. I don't need the practice, I can bodge it together better myself. With a TON less out-of-pocket.
