Howdy all. Sorry to interlope from the Triumph side of the site. I've just inherited a little bit of money and have decided to sink it into another LBC. Anyone know of a good MGC driver (roadster only) at a reasonable price? Thanks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif
 
What shape are you willing to accept? and what do you consider a reasonable price?
 
Excellent questions! Good driver -- presentable but not concours, no rust, no serious modifications from original specs. Something strong enough to be driven on a regular basis (couple of times a week) when properly maintained by someone with LBC experience like me. Reasonble price? Depends on the car, but actual market for the MGC, rather than Barret-Jackson fantasy prices. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
Be prepared to spend $7k to $10k for a car in the condition you are quoting.....unless you get REALLY lucky.

That one does look like a nice, strong MGC/GT...even has the air pump and ancillary emissions intact, along with the two original brake boosters....but....Bill want a tourer, not a GT.

How much is that CGT? Sure is a nice car.
 
I'd be more than happy to look at that CGT if anyone is seriously interested in it. The seller is only 45 minutes from where I live.

I know these aren't exactly a dime a dozen, but isn't that a bit on the high side? Like maybe $4k high?

Isn't it being listed by a dealer? That automatically raises the price in most cases.

Anyone serious in the GT mentioned in this thread needs to make a personal visit -or- find someone reputable to do same on their behalf.

Thanks for the education, guys. I have a pretty good handle on Triumph prices, but I'm still learning about MGCs. What would the general range be for a nicely restored roadster? Also, I'd love thoughts on problem areas and things to look for (aside from the usual LBC stuff).

That "original" MGC has been repainted at least once that the dealer apparently doesn't know about in addition to the new front seats, carpet & weatherstripping he says was changed - oh, & he thinks most MGC's came with automatic transmisions.

While a nice example, its overpriced by about $8K - $10K.
 
I'm with Tony on this one. He has a nice $5k-$8K "driver" for sale.

Oh, no, Kenny - I only have my '68 MGC roadster & my '69 MGC GT...neither is for sale.

The really bad part is that it now read $16.5K. 1/.5 thouand more than yesterday. Sickening.
