TR4/4A Anyone know a source for TR4-6 outer sills that actually fit?

I purchased a pair of outer sill sheet metal from the Roadster Factory that are horrendously bad reproductions. They bear some resemblance to the actual sills, but don't fit AT ALL. Anyone know a place that sells/ manufactures good replacements? I know good ones won't come cheap if they are indeed out there, but in the long run I'm not sure I can make these fit... Any help would be appreciated!

Not heard that they were a problem.
Must be a new thing

If they were both Heritage then they probably came from the same source

I had a pair from rimmer bros that were excellent. There are no British motor heritage sills from what I understand. rimmer had 2 different sills available, their more expensive better fit ones (which I had bought) and the lesser expensive much poorer fit ones.

The ones I have are definitely not Heritage, nor do they have the stickers. They appear to be made on one-sided stamping tools. Thank you guys for the responses, I'll look into Rimmer Bros in the UK, and maybe Victoria British. TRF did warn that Heritage sills were not available, and that they weren't the best quality...

I guess the ones that went with my car were worth some money then.
They were Heritage

So these are the cheaper REP850281 T46 OUTER SILL, LH Outer Sill, less expensive replacement ($79.95 list) versus the 850281 T46 LH SILL,OUTER,STEEL Outer Sill Panel, L.H. ($154.95 list)?

Did they say if they were expecting more of the Heritage parts in the future?

Not sure, but their website only lists the $154.95 ones PN 850281. I bought them a couple of years ago, and I'm just getting around to fitting one of them. I'd much rather start with some that fit.

I found the other part number in their parts database and although it's an older catalog, this shows both versions with the descriptions.

I'd really guess that you have the REP850281 part but I'd give them a call and see if you have any options to exchange them. They should be able to pull up your order and see which you purchased.

When I did this replacement work I first ordered the replacement sills from Rimmer, and the fit was quite poor. Not wanting to reform the curves I bought the "original" parts and they fit much better. Judging only from the pictures on Rimmer's website, I don't think the two panels have changed much. In my opinion the better fit was worth the extra cost.

from what I understand, and was told by a restoration guy at one of the british car shows nearby, there will be no more Heritage sills for 4-6 because the dies became too worn out to stamp accurate parts, and that the best fitting ones now are not actually Heritage parts, but quality (and more expensive) repros. The best source I know is the more expensive (2x as much) ones from rimmer.

Been a while since I first posted this, getting back into the project again... I notified TRF, and was told that they have had no complaints. The part number (850281) coincides with the "original" spec sills from Rimmer brothers, but according to the pictures they look different. The fit issue is essentially a huge gap under the door (they won't go any higher, up hard against the A and B post feet) and the curvature at the fenders isn't quite right either, especially at the rear. The TRF sill endcaps don't fit either -- not even close. I suppose I'll order from Rimmer and send these back.
