TR2/3/3A anyone help me identify the screw attaching seat slide to the floor?

Hi all

The tr3b I purchased had the seats removed by previous owner. I am reinstalling, don't have the screws/washers/nuts. I looked them up in the spare parts catalog. I was able to cross reference all of them to Standard hardware catalog except for the screws that attach the seat slide (rail) to the floor. The part is listed as 552433 in the spare parts catalog. I can't find anything like that part number in the standard hardware catalog. I can deduce it is a 1/4" screw from the associated nut. What I can't get is length or head style.

Anyone able to help me out here?

Thanks!

I'm using 1/4-24, 7/16" hex head on mine. You should have captive nut plates in the floor unless your floorpans have been replaced.

Just checked mine: six sided bolt, 1 inch shank length.

Here is a hint. Download the Moss UK catalog. Find your part, copy the part number and paste in Google. You will quickly find the size, tpi and length from one of the many uk parts houses.

Thanks apbos... I never knew that the UK catalog was different than the US version. The diagrams in the UK version are much more helpful in this instance.

The big difference between Moss UK and US catalogues is that the UK catalogue uses the original Stanpart numbers. Unfortunately, if it's a typical six-digit number, I don't think it's going to tell you much about that particular bit of hardware, as it's likely a "special" bolt (nut, whatever). Of course, if it's something like "KT4503," then you can go back to the Standard-Triumph Hardware Catalogue to determine that it's a Setscrew, flat countersunk 80 degree head; No. 10 UNF by 3/8"!

"Won't tell you much if not in Standard-Triumph Hardware Catalog...". Yeah, that is where I started :wink-new: There is the picture in the UK catalog you pointed me to though and that helped. I also entered the part number in TRF database, and found they sell them, a bit pricey, but they have them.

I'm using a 3/8" X 1 inch fine thread (misplaced my thread gauge) grade 8 bolt, nut & washer. Works fine. I did replace the floor pans so there were no captive bolts to use.

Good luck

Originally the seat guide to floor fixings part 552433 were the same item as the rear wing fixings along the sides of the trunk. They were 1/4" UNF x 3/4" mushroom headed slotted set screws with a plain washer. The low mushroom head was for adequate clearance to the sliding track above.
