Anyone have the Moss supercharger kit?

I was looking at the instructions, trying to figure out how they solved the problem with the damper conversion to a serpentine setup.

Is that really a solid pulley they have on the crank there?

No, I'm totally amazed that they'd do that - if that indeed is what it is - and hence my question.

The only alternative I've seen is Rick Patton's Caddy setup, but I'm leery of that without someone doing some kind of analysis to see which harmonics it damps. You could end up making things worse...

I'm starting to think that I'm going to have to switch to a serpentine setup, which is making me look closely at the options. Piggybacking on the Moss setup would have been really easy if it were viable.

I agree about the questioning of the damper. If anything I would think you would want to go oversize on the damper to lessen the harmonics. These cranks are notorious for "whiplashing" at 5500 and above. That is what sets up the harmonics that destroys the crank. I always wanted to put a bigger damper on the front to counteract the flywheel and clutch weight in the back, so hopefully that would offset some of the whiplash.

Mebbe even something like the aftmkt Chebby "rattler" types.
 
I believe the first harmonic is actually just past 3,000 rpm and the second is around 6300 rpm.
 
FYI, there is a good writeup on installation and testing of the Moss kit in Classic Motorsports this month (March 2008, Issue 131, page 99). Included in the discussion is some of the minor mods they made when installing the kit and also some of the tuning done to maximize the result. Pretty good writeup I thought.

As an aside, maybe an email to Per Schroeder (Technical Editor) or Carl Heideman (author of the upgrade article) about the pulley will shed some light. Sure looks solid to me.

As an fyi more than anything else, I found out that it IS a solid piece. I'm a bit surprised they chose to do this.

It means that I'm looking for another solution, which probably means custom...
 
Whoa there. Did I miss something? Alan are you now building a supercharged motor or are you supercharging your PI motor and trying to kill yourself?
 
I've always wanted to supercharge it.
It was built to be supercharged - low compression, forged pistons, etc.
The drivetrain has been swapped out so it'll take being supercharged.
Now it is running right, it is time to consider the supercharging part.
This is a part of it.
 
Alan how possible is it to change the PI to a TBI system and run the SC thru a modified SU8.
 
It isn't. I wanted the pulleys, not their wet s/c setup.
I want to run a supercharged MPFI setup. Sequential ignition, sequential injection, preferably COP.

Look at Rick Pattons setup for a rough outline of the plumbing - https://www.topshamautoparts.com/tr6/schrgr.install19.jpg but with either a W140AX or (if I can get one) an Eaton R1320 instead of an M62.
