Take one of these:


MG TD Kit

And put it together with a Midget? You can pick up late 70's running Midgets fairly cheap and I wouldn't have one without heavily modifying it anyway.

So (having never been near one of these 'kits')...

There are several versions of those kits. The ones that used Pinto drive trains could easily handle a 1275 A-series or even a 1500 spitfire engine/tranny. But some where made for volkswagon running gear.

I was just thinking, hey if you are modifying a later model Midget anyway... might as well make it a bit classy eh?

It would still be an MG after all. :wink:
 
I've never liked the lines of those kits... somehow the proportions just never seem right.
 
Many of the details on those its just don't look quite right to me either, but then again, the Arkley kit for Spridgets is kind of an ungainly looking design too that works quite well when done right!!
 
A friend of my dad's has all the molds and such for the Great Lakes TF kit which is based on an MGB chasis. It's supposed to be a pretty good looking replica. He was going to start producing them, but the "body man" backed out of the partnership.
