Anyone ever replace the tumbler in the ignition

I purchased a new tumbler but I can't figure out how to get the old on out. There is a spring loaded pin on the new tumbler. Is there a small hole through the ignition switch body to depress the spring loaded pin on the tumbler? I didn't really see one.

Should I just bring it to a lock smith?

There are a couple of pins that need to be driven out.
Also you need the key to remove the old tumbler set.
And the new ones are different so look at the 2 carefully.

Sounds like lock smith time, thanks.

My Mini should use the same type of ignition switch. I found there was a radial hole through the switch housing. You put the key in the lock and turn the tumbler assembly until you can see a brass pin inside through the hole. I used a small punch to depress that pin and that allowed me to extract the tumbler assembly using the key as a handle/tool. Before taking your lock to a locksmith, take a look again and see if your is similar to what I'm describing.

That sounds similar to the BE set-up Doug! I have a feeling Shealey "needs the key"!

Yep, that's the issue. No key and it looks like someone was prying at the key slot. I see the release hole now but I can't turn the lock to line it up.

I had to replace the tumbler on my Bugeye - no key came with the car....
I managed to get the old tumbler out w/o the original key... I vaguely remember using the "new key" in the process along with depressing the "pin" - I just can't remember exactly what it was I did!
Just had a birthday - I guess I'm getting to that forgetful age!
Sorry I'm not much help!
