Anyone ever installed a Mercedes hood vent on a Bugeye?

'Just curious: I've heard that a lot of the cooling problems with Bugeyes are due to heat buildup under the hood and can be solved by venting. I happened to notice a Mercedes today that had this vent at the rear edge of the hood and wondered if (1) would it fit the Bugeye bonnet, and if so, (2) has anyone ever seen one installed and can comment on whether or not the curvature will match?

Got one just like it on my car...my Mercedes, that is! The Sprite's bonnet along the windshield is a straight line, so I don't see that fitting.

OK, scratch the Mercedes hood vent. How about this one (from a BMW)?

Most hood vents I see added to Spridgets are located on the sides. I think it is the best option for keeping water out.

I'm surprised that you might have heat buildup problems. I went looking through vintage photos in my Frogeye Sprite book to see what was done in period, and frankly it was not done. Even the works cars that were raced at Sebring did not have extra venting.
